Counselling and Psychotherapy via Phone or Skype

    Reasons for this service

The reality of living in today’s busy world of conflicting schedules means that attending therapy in person can be fraught with logistical barriers. Transportation, location, mobility and availability are common impediments in accessing much needed supports.

Consequently clients are increasingly opting to access my counselling and psychotherapy service via the mediums of phone or Skype. Accepting that these options may not be preferential interventions for every problematic issue, they do nevertheless provide individuals with convenient, viable, and effective alternatives to face-to-face work.

Recent research reviews endorse the use of these methods with clients:

    How it works

    1. Make Contact
    2. Free 15 minute phone or Skype consultation
    3. Arrange to begin your phone or Skype sessions

    1. Make contact: You can either call me at 083 3511775 or email [email protected]. Once you get in touch contact details are exchanged and I’ll invite you to book an initial 15 minute Skype or phone session

    2. Free 15 minute consultation: This permits the provision of a broad overview of the counselling process and enables you to pose any questions you may have. A brief assessment of your current life circumstances may establish your suitability for phone or Skype counselling. It also affords you the opportunity to decide if you feel comfortable working with me via the medium of phone or Skype.

It is important to note that the business of counselling does not begin during this conversation.

    3. Arrange to begin your phone or Skype sessions: Once we agree to work together a suitable time is agreed for the telephone or Skype. Confirmation of your appointment date and time will be emailed to you as well as a PayPal invoice.

Appointment fees must be made in advance of all phone or Skype sessions.

If you do not already have a PayPal account you can easily sign up for one here.

    Session Fees:

    Phone/Skype Individual Sessions: €50
    Phone/Skype Couples Counselling: €65

    Privacy:

Whether we speak by landline or via Skype it’s important that you have access to a private and comfortable place that you can use to speak, and ensure as far as possible that you won’t be interrupted for the duration of our session.

    Phone Sessions:

I will normally call you at the number you provide at the time that we arrange. However clients not located within the Republic of Ireland must contact me.

    Skype Sessions:

Skype is a software application that allows users to make secure voice calls over the internet. Calls between Skype users are free and encryption ensures the highest level of security. If you are not a Skype user already, it’s very easy to download and set up an account free of charge from Skype. Skype also supports video conferencing, which means that we can use webcam if you value putting a face to a name.

    Session duration:

Therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes in duration.

    Cancellation Policy:

Maintaining regularity in your appointment attendance is absolutely crucial for productive therapeutic work to take place. My own availability for private client work is often limited and there may be a waiting list for appointments so if you cannot attend it is very important that you provide me with as much notice as possible.

Please note that if you cancel your appointment within 48 hours of your scheduled session time you will incur a charge of 50% of the full fee. This means that we can of course reschedule your session but your cancellation fee is payable once your new booking has been made.

If you provide notice exceeding 48 hours that you are unavailable to attend, then no extra charges will apply.

Please note that if a person chooses not to proceed with therapy, any client refunds may be subject to PayPal deduction fees.

    My approach:

Further specifics about confidentiality and the counselling process can be found here, whilst some details about my approach can be viewed here.

Seeking and accepting support is a strength and not a weakness so please feel free to contact me to take the next step.
